Mommas are caged two weeks prior to their due date. Once the kittens are using the litter box and have had their first vaccination, they move into the kitten room. This is a room directly off of our living room. In the doorway is a gate which allows the babies to see and hear the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Once the kittens are completely acclimated to their potty habits we start taking the gate away, a little bit at a time until they are running through the entire house. At that point in time everyone here does the 'kitten shuffle'. Most kittens are ready to leave at approximately 12 weeks of age.
